We are seeking a Field Officer to join our team in Mchinji District. The Field Officer will play a critical role in ensuring smooth farm operations, supporting orchard management, monitoring farm activities, and liaising with management for successful implementation of agricultural programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day farm activities including planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting.
• Monitor the health and growth of avocado, mango, vegetable, and other crops on the farm.
• Provide technical support and guidance to farm workers to ensure adherence to best agricultural practices.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping of farm inputs, outputs, and ongoing activities.
• Report regularly to management on farm progress, challenges, and recommendations.
• Assist with trials, demonstrations, and training sessions for farm staff.
• Uphold farm safety, sustainability, and environmental practices.
• Support BLEJ Group’s mission of building climate-smart orchards and agribusiness solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Diploma in Horticulture, Agronomy, or related Agricultural fields (Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage).
• At least 2 years of proven experience working in a horticultural farm or agricultural project.
• Must be fluent in English  and Chichewa (other local languages are an advantage).
• Strong knowledge of orchard management, irrigation systems, and crop protection.
• Willingness to relocate to Mchinji District and live close to the farm.
• Must be available on a daily basis to supervise farm activities.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage farm workers.
• Ability to use basic digital tools (smartphone apps, MS Office, or farm management software) will be an added advantage.
